Trick-or-treat

On Halloween evening, children visit neighborhood homes in the hopes of receiving “treats.” They say “trick-or-treat” to request sweet favors from those who answer, with the implied threat of a “trick” if they don’t receive them.

Pumpkin

Candy

Dressing up and pretending to be someone (or something) else is fun for all ages. Common costumes include animals, fictional characters, and historical figures.

Jack-o-lantern

Take a pumpkin and carve a scary, funny, or silly face onto its side. Add a candle inside and set it outdoors to celebrate the holiday. Advanced carvers may illuminate a spooky scene or creature.

Mask

Often part of a costume, a mask covers the face and helps the wearer transform. It can be simple or elaborate, with some masks projecting lights and sounds.
